At the beginning of each stage that you play, you can select Mario, Luigi, Toad or even the Princess. Each character has a different ability that would make choosing them for a certain area a wise choice. One of the cool easter eggs in this game is that each stage contains at least 1 flash of potion, if you find this and throw it, it creates a door to a parallel world that allows you to collect coins instead of vegetables.
